Ekko’s Bio
Ekko is bred out of Hidden Meadows Livestock, LLC in Missoula, MT. Her pedigree is stacked with working dogs from foundation dogs of Mission Falls Ranch in St. Ignatius, Montana. The vast majority of dogs in Ekko’s pedigree have all gone on to excel in herding, agility, SAR, dock diving, disc, flyball and more.
Ekko has a high drive and medium arousal. She is a biddable dog and able to maintain a handler focused relationship. Ekko has the best off switch. She does well indoors, and is able to settle with ease. Ekko is neutral, but friendly to both people and other dogs. Her versatility is exceptional, she seems to thrive in whatever activity we throw her in. She has the true heart of a border collie. Ekko doesn’t care what we do, she is just ready to work.
We began our journey by dabbling in fastCAT, spending many weekends enjoying local fun runs before deciding to compete, and we haven’t looked back. Later, we decided to try out dock diving. Ekko knocked out both her DN and DJ titles in just two weekends without having seen a dock prior to competing.
Ekko has been exposed to Barn Hunting and NASDA scent trials, where she is a natural. She has titled in the Instinct and Novice levels for Barn Hunting. And she is NASDA Level 1 in both Shed Hunting and Trailing and Locating. We have started practicing with birch and hope to begin AKC Scent Trials in 2026.
On stock, Ekko shows loads of confidence, style and natural ability. After several stock exposures and a couple herding clinics, we decided to invest further into Ekko’s training. In March 2025, Ekko left for a 90 day herding train and trial for both AKC and USBCHA venues with Alexis Atchinson at Apex Farms and Border Collies in Washington. She took to it effortlessly, receiving her HSAs and HIAs AKC herding titles after only several weeks of training. Additionally, she has 2/3 Q’s towards her HSBs and HSDs titles. We hope to compete more in more venues down the road.
