North Fork Puppies
All puppies are $2500 regardless of color or sex; however, price may vary based on pairing. Registration is with the American Border Collie Association (ABCA) as non-breeding status and/or the American Kennel Club (AKC) with limited registration.
Full registration can be discussed and granted in the future for an additional fee when an owner is able to confirm that the dog is a proven breeding prospect in health, structure, temperament and performance.
A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required to secure a puppy slot for a particular litter. Deposits are due when a litter is born and applied towards the purchase price.
Puppies are raised with ENS, ESI and Puppy Culture. They will be temperament tested and matched to their new homes based on the needs of the puppy and the goals of the buyer. If the right puppy isn’t available, the buyer may opt to transfer their deposit to a future litter.
A signed Puppy Sales Agreement is required at or before time of pick up, ensuring that the buyer agrees to keep the health, quality of life, and best interest of our pups in mind.
Please be sure to browse through our website to learn more about our program. If interested in a puppy from a current or future litter, fill out an application to be added to our waitlist.
North Fork Border Collies reserves the right to refuse the sale of any puppy.

I’m interested in a puppy, now what?
Step 1: Complete an Application
An application is the best way to stay up to date on potential pairings and planned litters. Submitting an application automatically adds you to the waitlist for any puppy produced in our breeding program, but it does not guarantee a puppy. If you are interested in a particular pairing, please indicate on your application or reach out to me directly. Once a female for a planned breeding goes into heat, a detailed email is sent out to every applicant on the waitlist. Unless there is a spot open from a current litter, applicants won’t receive an email until there is an update for a future breeding. Otherwise, keep checking our website or follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay in the know.
Step 2: Phone Interview
A phone interview is conducted on or around the time a litter has been whelped. This is a BIG part of the decision making process. An interview allows both the breeder and the buyer to start a deeper conversation and build rapport. The goal is to ensure that a puppy from the current litter and/or breeding program will be the right fit for your home and lifestyle. Priority is given to homes that are able to meet the needs of the breed.
Step 3: Deposit
An email will be sent out requesting a deposit after applicants have been thoroughly considered, interviewed and selected for a particular litter. The deposit will be applied towards the purchase price of the puppy and must be paid within 48 hours to secure your puppy slot. In the event a deposit is not received, the puppy slot will be considered forfeit and offered to the next applicant.
Step 4: Litter Raising and Updates
Every single litter is born inside the home. They are immersed in all the sights, sounds, smells and chaos that come with the average household. They have a little girl who handles and adores every sweet puppy morsel with adult supervision, of course. ENS, ESI, and Puppy Culture are diligently implemented when raising a litter to guarantee a well-rounded, confident border collie that will succeed in their forever home. As a breeder, I do my best to post weekly photos and updates of the litter as the puppies develop. This is something I thoroughly enjoy, but don’t always have time for, depending on the season of life. Generally, I don’t whelp a litter unless I can be fully present for the time it takes to raise them. I truly believe in pouring my heart and soul into each and every puppy.
Step 5: Placements
All puppies will receive temperament testing at 7 weeks old and placed according to which home may be the best fit. It’s important to go into this puppy buying process with an open mind and not get too attached to any particular puppy. Sometimes, there are enough puppies with similar temperaments who could fit into multiple homes on the waitlist, which may allow for options. However, this is usually NOT the case. I do my absolute best to take preferences into consideration when making placements.
Step 6: Picking Up Your Puppy
We ask that all puppy buyers come in person to pick up their puppy UNLESS they have experience with using a trusted flight nanny. I do not like using ground transport, if I can help it. The easiest way to pick up your puppy is to fly into our local airport and add your puppy as carry on for $150 (this varies by airline). We live very close to Glacier International Airport (FCA) where I am able to meet you with your puppy in person for a quick hand off.
Step 7: Final Details
All puppies must be paid for in full on or before their scheduled pick up date. If transport has been arranged, the balance must be paid 24 hours prior to hand off. Each puppy will come with a standard contract which also must be signed on or before the puppy leaves our premises. Additionally, you will receive a swag bag that includes: a full vet check up document with first round of puppy shots and deworming, ABCA and/or AKC registration, a copy of the signed contract printed and electronically, microchipping and information, puppy kibble for the road, a handmade biothane collar and leash from The North Fork Dog shop, some puppy toys, collapsable travel water bowl, clicker, potty bags and a USB drive with all the edited puppy photos.
BREEDING PHILOSOPHY
Our goal is to produce a well-balanced, versatile border collie with the potential to thrive in any sporting, working or active companion home. The word “thrive” is a verb that means to grow or develop well; to prosper; flourish. With that being said, we strive for healthy dogs with a medium to high drive, a solid temperament, lower arousal, good off-switch, and proper structure that is capable of accomplishing the job it was originally breed to do.
We believe that health, temperament and performance are key variables to consider when breeding border collies.
Health: we adhere to the breed standard by testing hips, eyes and dna. Our breeding dogs will obtain OFA hip results, annual eye exams, and a genetic test through Optimal Selection to ensure responsible breeding. When available, our dogs will receive additional radiographs, Pennhip, Basic Cardiac and BAER. Furthermore, we provide a short-term and long-term health guarantee on all of our puppies.
Temperament: we work hard to prioritize training and socializing our dogs from the moment we get them. We expect our dogs to be well-behaved members in the home and out in public. They must be of a sound mind, non-aggressive towards people, and tolerant of other dogs.
Performance: we immerse our dogs in a variety of activities and venues to evaluate their drive and abilities. With foundations in basics to trick training for fun, we try to expose our border collies to whatever is readily available to us in our area, such as: conformation, rally, fastCAT, dock diving, NASDA scent trials and barn hunting, agility foundations and stock to determine their work ethic.
We don’t always have litters, but when we do, you can find more frequent updates on our Facebook page.
