Quest’s Bio
Without even searching, we were presented with the opportunity to own this unique girl. Quest has been with us since Spring 2024. And we’ve been focused on transitioning her into our lifestyle, training basics, providing proper socialization and exposure, and just having fun together.
Quest comes to us from a little farm in Nebraska, out of working lines and show lines. She’s been exposed to stock a few times and shows some interest. Her trainer believes she is more than capable to compete for a PT title in AKC herding. However, we would prefer a stronger drive. So with that in mind, if we are to ever breed Quest, it would be with a stud who is keen on stock with a solid stock sense.
Quest is about 18” tall and about 38lbs. We think she will be on the smaller side, but she is built nicely. Her structure is lovely. Don’t let her size fool you, as she is speedy and springy. Quest is great in the home with a solid off switch. Low arousal but with a medium drive.
She is quirky, gentle, happy and a lot of fun. She’s the type of dog that can thrive in any home and go in any direction. She settles in the house beautifully, non-vocal, travels well, loves toys and treats, gets along with other dogs, friendly with people and kids, and just an all around fun loving girl.
In the first summer of owning Quest, this girl racked up some Puppy Aptitude titles after just one weekend of competing in NASDA scent trials. Shortly after, she earned her RATN title in Barn Hunting, proving she has a little nose on her. She then received her Farm Dog Certificate and competed in conformation.
Quest has been both professionally and owner handled in the show ring. Regardless of who is holding her leash, she moves beautifully. She gathered up all her singles at 14-16 months before chasing her majors. Quest finally finished her AKC Champion title at 19 months old. We are so very proud of our little cinnamon roll.
Additionally, Quest ran in a few fun runs before competing in fastCAT, and she is more than halfway towards a BCAT title. She has also been exposed to stock, where her trainer believes she is more than ready to compete for a PT title in herding.
We hope to see more interest from Quest in a variety of events, as time goes on. We really do believe she is a can do anything kind of border collie. And our goal is to prove her versatility.
Quest on Sheep
Summer of 2025, we sent Quest to our trainer in Washington state to see if we could get some drive out of her. This video is only one example of the limited opportunities she has had on livestock. The hope is to send her back for more exposure and potentially her PT title.
